Accommodation Tips© by Forest AngBefore You GoWith the invention of internet, booking room is now as comfortable as reading your email. You do not need to search for hotels and calling them to book a room. You can now do a search using my hotel search provider at your sweet time on the net. Booking through the net is not only convenient but you get the cheapest rates and the many possible information about the room from a click away. Travel guidebooks can also be very helpful but sometimes they are out of date immediately after print. Hotel websites are useful but sometimes they are limited to certain branches in certain countries. When I reserved a room, I usually saved the page and emailed the page to myself. In this way, I will be able to open my email anywhere to check on the information. It will be good to have a printed copy but if you can avoid it, you will help save a tree in a long run. Have a copy cc to your love one in case of emergency and they need to contact you.Checking InAt the reservation counter you should get more information about the availability of some services. You should check the check-in and check-out time and to make advance check-out request if necessary. Check transportation available back to hotel during late hours. Also enquire on the free or paying services available including complementary newspaper, laundry, iron board, electricity voltage supply, breakfast, internet connection in room, cybercafé, TV, movies, safety box, telephone charges, mini bar supplies, free shuttle service, restaurants, swimming pool, sauna, spa and other health services. You should get a name card of the hotel especially in foreign land and as a safety reason if you encounter any untoward incident. Enquire about the possible tourist attractions or guided tour. For example on a transit journey at Nakorn Pathom(Thailand), the only tourist attraction was the huge chedi at the town. On enquiry from the hotel, I was given information on a royal park, a university and an art gallery.Checking OutBefore leaving your room, you should check room for any left behind items. Look under your pillows, bathroom and even under the bed. I have taken people on trips who actually left their watches, identification card and purse under the bed. Remember to get back your passport if you are asked to keep it as deposit during check in. If you pay by credit card, keep an eye on the movement of your card, make sure the card is not out of sight for unreasonable long period. Check your itemized hotel bill and get clarification before payment. It will be a hassle claiming back if you over paid on the bill. Email these tips to your friends if you find it useful.Have a wonderful journey and enjoy the exploring! Forest Ang is an experienced traveller and explorer.
